We all have situations where
we need to perform well and unfortunately the pressure we feel
can lead us to fail to deliver our best. Using hypnotherapy we
can help you perform at your best when you need to, such as in
the following situations:
-
Written examinations and
tests
-
Learning to drive and taking
your test
-
Delivering
presentations and speeches with confidence
-
Attending job interviews
-
Meeting new people in social
situations
-
Starting a new job or course
-
Auditioning or performing on stage
as an actor, singer or musician
-
Sports performance and other
competitive situations
-
Succeeding on dates and meeting a
potential partner
There are certain situations in life where we would like to do
better or make a more positive impression. This could range from social
situations such as public speaking or meeting new people to
career-related issues such as athletic performance or effective
interview skills. It may simply be that you want to sing
better in a karaoke bar. Whatever the situation, there may be mental
blocks that are making it difficult to be your best.
Sometimes the very thing we don't want seems to be the thing we
get the most, such as consciously trying to avoid hitting the
ball into the net at crucial points in a tennis match and always
managing to do exactly that. It is as though our
unconscious mind has developed a habit of doing what we are
trying to avoid.
Whatever the area , hypnosis is
highly effective for improving performance as it provides an
unconscious programme for success that you will automatically
run the next time you are in the situation. Sometimes our
unconscious mind simply needs a software upgrade so the next
time we're in that situation we handle it in the preferred way.
Mentally rehearsing your performance in a state of hypnosis can
provide a blueprint for your mind so you do your best on the
day. It can also help you minimise the nerves and anxiety
that precede these events.
The key is that your mind
does not know the difference between a vividly imagined event
and one that is really happening. Thus, if you watch a
horror movie, you jump when something scary happens.
People often create their own horror stories in their minds,
imagining all the worst things that could happen during an
approaching event and feeling all the anxiety as though it was
really happening. When you experience hypnosis, you put
this ability to your advantage by imagining things going well.
Your mind then knows how to act when you are really in the
situation.
Coaching can also be a
useful intervention for enhancing performance. It can
allow exploration of any anxieties or limiting beliefs that are
preventing you from doing your best. It also allows you to
recognise your own strengths and apply these more widely in your
life. Because coaching focuses on taking action to make
positive improvements, it is often highly effective and can
produce excellent results in a relatively short period of time.
