These days life seems more
complicated than ever and many people feel that they're juggling
their time and finding it increasingly difficult to keep all the
balls in the air. People these days have higher expectations of life than
ever before. Although some people are content to plod
along, increasingly there are people who want to find a more
fulfilling way of being alive and unlock more of their
potential. If you are considering hiring a life coach,
then you are one of these people.
Life coaching is about
identifying your dreams, turning them into goals and bringing
them into reality. This takes courage, motivation,
persistence and conviction. It also requires the ability
to prioritise, manage time, take action and modify strategies.
With these challenges it is no wonder that many people find it
easier not to try, or make a few new year's resolutions that
have been forgotten by the end of January. However, with a
life coach you can experience an easier way of making progress
in your life.
What can a life coach do that
other people can't? Some people are fortunate and have
friends and family who will support them in their efforts to
change but this isn't always the case. Even with the best
intentions, most people haven't learnt the advanced
communication skills and depth of understanding that really help
people move forward. Sometimes people
don't have the time or ability to encourage other people.
Sadly, people don't always want to see other people develop,
particularly if it will upset the status quo.
A life coach will help you
discover your priorities and provide the support and
encouragement you need to achieve them.
Some of the benefits of life
coaching include:
-
taking stock of the various
elements of your life and setting priorities
-
recognising your
achievements and utilising your skills more widely
-
finding strategies for
improving the relationships in your life
-
making more productive use
of your time
-
discovering what is
important to you and honouring your values
-
replacing limiting beliefs
with more generative ones
-
solving problems and
accepting challenges
-
creating a working life that
inspires you
-
improving and maintaining
your health and fitness
-
making a difference and
finding a way to contribute
-
dealing with life transition
stages, such as changing career or entering retirement
Creating
a more fulfilling life involves reflection, action and
maintenance. There are no magic bullets but working with a
coach can significantly accelerate your progress towards your
goals. A coach is someone who can share your journey,
encourage you when you need support and celebrate each step you
take.
Coaching always begins with
a two hour intake appointment which will involve gathering some
general information and focusing on what you want to gain from
coaching. It will also deepen your understanding of what
you want from life by helping you to identify your values and
beliefs. If you decide that coaching is right for you, you
can choose to be coached either once a week or once a fortnight
in sessions of 30 or 60 minutes.
