We believe that many of the
difficulties that are experienced by those with neurodiversity
are created by the beliefs they have developed about their own
limitations and the high levels of personal stress that they may
experience. Some of these problems have developed through
misunderstandings through people not recognising the nature
of their difficulties or appreciating their hidden strengths. Our approach is to deal with
dyslexia
at the level of the underlying processes that
contribute to the problems rather than focusing primarily on
behavioural interventions.
Employee needs assessments
We offer needs assessments for
employees with dyslexia that take into account
the requirements of a job and match these against the employee's
strengths and difficulties. We then make recommendations
on reasonable adjustments that can be made to support the
individual. We advise on technological interventions such
as specialist software and provide training in the use of these
technologies. We also advise on the government funding
available to contribute to the costs associated with these
interventions.
Dyslexia Consultancy
We carry out organisational
audits and advise on how to improve your policies for employees
who have dyslexia. We liaise with individual staff and
managers to provide solutions that enable dyslexic employees
contribute their skills to your organisation.
Dyslexia awareness training
We offer training in dyslexia
awareness and other forms of neurodiversity (ADHD, dyspraxia,
Asperger's syndrome, dyscalculia). Training reflects the
individual needs of the organisation.
Training for dyslexia
specialists
We offer training for the
professional development of trained dyslexia specialists,
offering new approaches to overcoming dyslexia, including:
Neuro linguistic programming
(NLP)
NLP can enable student's
overcome their limiting beliefs about dyslexia. Dyslexia
tutors benefit from learning how to communicate more effectively
with students through understanding advanced language patterns
and applying them during tuition sessions. NLP also offers
a number of effective strategies for intervention such as the
NLP spelling strategy.
Teaching students
self-hypnosis
Many of the limitations
associated with dyslexia exist in the unconscious mind and
teaching approaches that address the conscious development of
skills are not effective for all difficulties faced by people
with dyslexia. Teaching students self-hypnosis enables
them to take a proactive approach to their own learning,
enabling them to develop confidence in their abilities.
Attendees will learn how to teach students to install the
unconscious strategies they need for success.
Coaching skills
A coaching approach can be used
in the delivery of dyslexia tuition to facilitate change at the
deepest level. Rather than teaching within a conventional
model, study skills coaching offers a range of techniques for
uncovering and assessing student's difficulties. It also
focuses on using verbal communication to unlock a student's latent
knowledge and abilities.
Study skills strategies
This workshop covers a range of
effective approaches to the delivery of study skills in a
post-compulsory education setting.
Neurodiversity coaching
This is a service offered to
students in a higher education setting who have a difficulty
such as dyslexia, ADHD or dyspraxia. On some occasions
coaching is the most effective strategy to intervene with
difficulties such as time management, social skills, personal
organisation and self-esteem. Coaching involves uncovering
the limitations that are preventing the student making positive
changes and offers them a process of accountability so they can
remain on track.
Hypnotherapy
The use of clinical hypnosis can
be effective in some cases when conventional interventions are
showing limited success. Such issues include performance
anxiety over presentation skills or examinations or can relate
to phobias of reading in public. Hypnosis is effective as
these difficulties exist within the unconscious mind and are
rarely solved through conscious interventions.
