The hypnotherapy profession has a long history of using analytical methods, which involve understanding the deeper dynamics of the mind and resolving inner conflicts. When clients are facing long-standing problems that are emotionally distressing, analytical hypnotherapy can offer considerable benefits. These approaches are powerful and can help people overcome problems they have been struggling with for many years.
I practice hypnotherapy holistically, which means that I choose the best method for the client, rather than treating all problems in the same way. Each person is an individual who benefits from an approach that is most suitable for them. For some clients, a deeper investigation of the problem proves to be the best way of achieving positive change.
The main analytical approaches I favour are unconscious diagnosis, hypnoanalysis, regression to cause and parts therapy work. Read on, if you would like to learn more about these methods and to find out how they will help you.
My practice as a hypnotherapist has shown me that our unconscious minds not only store our memories, but also connect us to deeper sources of wisdom. When I am working with a client who experiences low self-esteem, I may use unconscious diagnosis. This allows me to speak directly to the client’s unconscious mind to find out where healing needs to take place. I then allow the client’s unconscious mind to identify the best approach for helping them achieve positive change.
Unconscious diagnosis allows us to bypass the assumptions of the conscious mind so after years of chasing red herrings, the client is finally able to identify the real problem and work towards positive change. The client’s unconscious knows how to heal problems, so I work as a facilitator who is supporting and guiding the client’s natural self-healing abilities.
Hypnoanalysis is a useful approach for clients who are not aware of the original cause of their difficulties and need to understand this in order to let go of the problem. It involves relaxing into hypnosis, then allowing the mind to freely remember past incidents with only a little guidance from me as the process unfolds. Some of these incidents will have been consciously forgotten and it may be that emotions rise to the surface to be released. This allows problems to be dissolved by transforming the way the client feels about the event they are recalling.
The client is supported throughout the process and always returned to a positive frame of mind before the session ends. Hypnoanalysis allows you to clear your mind of negative beliefs and feelings that began in the past, making it easier to move on and make new choices.
Hypnotherapy allows us to relax our minds so fully that we can access any memory from the past in vivid detail. The technique of regressing to the original cause of a problem is a well-established and powerful way of facilitating change.
Every problem began with a past experience. Some events have such an impact on our mind that we are left with a symptom such as a phobia, compulsion or aversion even though we cannot remember the event itself. A problem may persist until we release the emotional baggage we carry from the original incident on an unconscious level.
Sometimes we have no conscious memory of the original incident as it has been repressed, but this does not mean it is not affecting us. Some incidents seem relatively minor when we access them through hypnotherapy because the younger we are, the more easily we are traumatised.
We may need to heal the inner child who experienced the trauma, in order to let go of the problem. Identifying the causal incident can create transformational change relatively easily and is particularly helpful for overcoming a phobia, reclaiming self-esteem and releasing unwanted behaviours.
Young children tend to be full of spirit, spontaneity, playfulness, joy and self-confidence. Unfortunately, people often criticise children’s behaviour, sometimes unfairly without giving clear guidance. Children therefore develop a collection of personas, or parts, in an attempt to be accepted by adults in their lives.
For some people, this fragmentation becomes exaggerated and they lose a firm sense of identity, struggle to make decisions and lack a sense of direction in life. Sometimes people find an activity that allows them to feel a sense of unity, which is helpful as long as the behaviour is not self-destructive such as substance misuse.
If you experience inner conflict or feel torn in different directions over your behaviour, this may indicate that parts of your personality are working against each other. Parts therapy allows each part to express itself so you develop a deeper understanding of your personality. Using hypnotherapy, I will call each part forward to understand the role it plays, find out how it interacts with other parts and discover ways to reconcile conflicts. I will also help you develop a compelling vision for your life, so all parts of your personality are inspired to work together to achieve common goals.
Parts therapy is a powerful method for resolving persistent difficulties, allowing you to relax and enjoy life again.
