About me

I have always had an interest in personal development and feel fortunate to have a career that reflects my passion for learning how to live a better life. Over the years, I have helped many clients overcome life’s challenges, lift their spirits and find a renewed sense of direction.

I am an experienced and fully qualified Hypnotherapist, NLP Master Practitioner and Personal Performance Coach. I am the author of a range of hypnotherapy self–help CDs and a published researcher in the field of educational coaching.

To help my clients successfully overcome a range of issues, I draw on a variety of contemporary approaches and rapid therapy techniques. I am a Registered Member of the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and follow their code of ethical practice. I am a Licensed Trainer of NLP and hold one of the few coaching qualifications in the UK that meets the rigorous standards of the International Coaching Federation. I continue to develop my knowledge and skills through attending training courses and learning the latest techniques and approaches.

At the heart of my practice is my desire to listen deeply and allow clients to express themselves fully, combined with openness to my intuition that guides me in the best approach for each individual. I have trained in a range of techniques to support my clients’ healing and growth, which is essentially what everyone is seeking from personal development work.

I am a qualified dyslexia specialist with numerous academic awards including a Master of Arts Degree in Education. As the creator of Learning Freedom™, I developed an innovative approach that helps people overcome barriers to learning and reach their true potential. I am the Director of Align Training, a training school for Hypnotherapy and Learning Freedom Coach™ training.

I do not believe in taking a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Rather than being a proponent of one particular method, I work holistically, recognising the individuality of every client and finding a technique that will work best for them. I find that solution-focused methods work effectively for the majority of clients, enabling rapid progress to be made towards better feelings and behaviours. However, when clients present with more complex issues, I am confident using a range of analytical methods.

My approach to hypnotherapy and coaching is based on a firm belief that clients have the resources within them to overcome their difficulties. The diversity of techniques I offer, combined with my compassion and flexibility, enable me to work successfully with clients who are experiencing a wide range of issues.

I am based at Norton In the Moors, Stoke on Trent, which is easily accessible for the surrounding areas of Newcastle under Lyme and Staffordshire Moorlands.

Professional membership

APHP Membership

I am a registered member of the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. APHP Membership is only awarded to hypnotherapists who have received thorough training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy, are competent and conscientious, and abide strictly by the code of ethics laid down by the association. As an APHP Member, I undertake clinical supervision and participate in continual professional development to ensure the highest standards of practice.

CNHC Registration

The UK government’s Department for Health recognises hypnotherapy as a professional complementary discipline and supports registration of hypnotherapists through the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

I am registered with the CNHC, which confirms that I have followed, and successfully completed, a high quality course in hypnotherapy to national occupational standards, and that I am bound by a professional code of conduct, ethics and practice. I am authorised to use the CNHC quality mark and my registration number is 000271-L10.

The CNHC provides the following definition of its purpose as a regulatory body:

CNHC is the UK regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners. Its key function is to enhance public protection by setting standards for registration with CNHC. The CNHC ‘quality mark' is being recognised as the hallmark of quality for the sector. This means that the general public, and those who commission the services of complementary healthcare practitioners, will be able to choose with confidence by looking for the CNHC quality mark. (CNHC website)

As required by my professional body, I have invested in professional indemnity and public liability insurance

Testimonials

I do not request or publish testimonials from clients I have worked with. My professional association (Association of Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy) specifies that this is not acceptable in their code of ethics:

Members will refrain from publishing client testimonials on their website(s) or other advertising materials. Such publication, even with the client's permission, can be seen as exploitation of the client - because of the nature of the therapeutic alliance, it could be difficult for a client to refuse permission if asked. (APHP Code of Ethics)

Additionally, the Advertising Standards Agency specifies that any testimonials that are published should be verifiable and available to view. This would undermine the full confidentiality policy that I uphold for my clients.
